Prepaid Wireless Phone Cards; The Pay as You Go Option
![]() |
Today is a time of convenience and having a cell phone is right at the top of that list. Everyone seems to have a cell phone whether they need it or not. They key is to find a cell phone provider that meets all your needs. Going with prepaid wireless phone cards is a great way to have the benefits of a cell phone without the commitment to a strapping monthly cell phone bill.
Having a prepaid wireless phone card is like going to an all-you-can-eat-buffet; you pay for it and use it at your convenience. If you’re someone who uses your cell phone in place of a land line phone, you may want to go with a regular cell phone service, but for anyone who just needs a cell phone for emergencies or is trying to stay on a budget, prepaid wireless phone cards are the hot tip.
While you may find that going with a prepaid wireless card will save you money, you still need to check out what the wireless phone card service provides before signing any contract.
If you are looking to purchase a prepaid wireless phone card, there are 3 different types of cards to choose from. The first is where you buy a phone that comes with a wireless phone card. You can purchase minutes as you need them with your credit card. You also have the hybrid prepaid phone card option; this phone card offers you many additional services where the recurring charges are added to your service as you go. The third option is the prepaid unlimited talk time cards. This is a great option for replacing your land line with your cell phone, the downside is that the service is usually limited to a small area and roaming is not included with this type of prepaid card.
When looking for a wireless phone plan it’s better to look before you leap. Going with a wireless phone card is not for everyone. A good place to start is by figuring out exactly what you will be using your cell for. Are you looking for those extra features such as call waiting, call forwarding, caller id, and voice mail? You can get most of these options with any of the prepaid wireless phone card services for free, but be sure to check their contracts closely, they do have a wide range of prices when it comes to the fees for their long distance charges.
You might want to review your old cell bill before switching to a prepaid wireless phone card. If you use a lot of minutes, you may not be saving in the long run when using a prepaid phone card.
If you’re looking to control your minutes, have kids that need to be put on a budget, or would just like to have a cell phone for emergencies, than a prepaid wireless phone card may be just the option you’ve been looking for.
